This week has proved turbulent in the relationship between Gli Azzurri and their talismanic forward.
A touchline spat with head coach Rudi Garcia was followed up by the club posting, and later deleting, a bizarre TikTok clip that seemingly mocked the Lagos native.
The controversy comes at a time when the Italian champions are looking to tie the 24-year-old down to a new long-term contract.
According La Gazzetta dello Sport, the forward was open to leaving the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona during the off-season for either Paris Saint-Germain or Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal, but ultimately club president Aurelio de Laurentiis rebuffed both offers in the hopes of keeping last season's Serie A top goalscorer.
Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, and De Laurentiis have been embroiled in contract negotiations for a few months now, and while nothing came to fruition in the latest transfer window, it seems the Italian executive may have missed his chance to keep the Super Eagles member for the long term.
Calenda was believed to have been waiting for a new offer from the club, but the TikTok ordeal is said to have frozen negotiations.
