Osimhen 'Considering' Legal Action Against Own Club Napoli

Osimhen 'Considering' Legal Action Against Own Club Napoli

Nigeria superstar Victor Osimhen could be set to take his own club Napoli to court after they posted a bizarre video of the marksman on social media.

Last season, the 24-year-old helped Gli Azzurri win their first league title in 33 years, but after being adored by the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona faithful ever since his arrival, it seems the forward has turned into the subject of mockery from his own club.

On Tuesday, the Italian champions released a peculiar video on TikTok pertaining to the forward's missed penalty this past weekend against Bologna.

The footage appeared to mock the player for his attempt at trying to persuade the referee to award his side the spot-kick. Captioned "Gimme penalty please", the video depicts the Lagos native calling for the penalty by using an unusual sped-up voice, before showing him missing the subsequent spot-kick.

Although the clip was later deleted, the player's agent, Roberto Calenda, took to X (formerly Twitter) to suggest that he and his client are now considering taking legal action against Napoli over the video.

"What happened today on Napoli's official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable," the Italian deal-maker wrote.

"A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.

"A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.

"We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor."

The Nigeria international is entering the final two years of his current deal in Naples, but having deleted all Napoli-related posts on his Instagram account in light of the incident, coupled with his recent spat with head coach Rudi Garcia, it now appears unlikely an extension will be negotiated.
