Zinedine Zidane Slams Real Madrid After Percy Tau & Co. Catch Defenders Napping

Zinedine Zidane Slams Real Madrid After Percy Tau & Co. Catch Defenders Napping

After Percy Tau got in behind the Real Madrid defence and found his teammate open in the box for Club Brugge's first goal in their 2-2 draw with Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, Zinedine Zidane slammed his team's "laughable" defending.

Following their 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in their opening game of the 2019/20 UCL campaign, Real were looking to get back to winning ways in Europe, but Tau and his striker partner Emmanuel Dennis had other plans.

It took just nine minutes for Brugge to break the deadlock after a clever ball in behind the Los Blancos defence saw Tau have acres of space and loads of time. The former Mamelodi Sundowns man played a firm pass into the box, setting up Dennis on his stronger right foot.

While the Nigerian was lucky with his poorly controlled finish, Real's defence looked fragile early on, something Zidane was furious about despite his team coming from 2-0 down to draw the match.

"The first goal we concede is laughable," he said, according to Fox Sports Asia.

"It's not that I'm happy for getting a point, but I'm happy with the reaction.

"The first-half part was bad, we did not enter focused and the first goal they scored is laughable. The second half was totally different and we did 45 minutes as we have never done.

"I want to keep the 45 minutes of the second half."

Goals from captain Sergio Ramos and Casemiro rescued a point for the 13-time European champions after Dennis' first-half brace.
