Los Blancos dropped their first points of the season after drawing 1-1 with Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday evening.
The Colombian midfielder made his first appearance for the club in two years, but only lasted 57 minutes as he was replaced by Vinicius Junior.
However, the Real manager has dismissed claims that there is a rift between himself and Rodriguez.
"I was very satisfied with James' performance today," Zidane was quoted as saying by Football Espana. "He was upset when he came off, which is understandable. "However, there is no more to it than frustration from him." Read: Zidane: I Can't Image The Team Without Real Star Do you think James will be an important player for Real this season?
