Citing anonymous sources, Spain-based publication Marca claims the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners will strengthen in two positions at the turn of the year.
Injuries have disrupted Real's start to the 2024/25 campaign, with right-back Dani Carvajal confirmed to have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the team's 2-0 win over Villarreal on the weekend.
David Alaba, meanwhile, is yet to return to action following his ACL injury in 2023, leaving Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao to have to get through a packed calendar at centre-back themselves.
French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has had to fill in in defence at times, which, in turn, has left Los Blancos with one less option in the centre of the park.
As a result, it is suggested that the LALIGA champions will look to sign a right-back and a centre-back at the next opportunity, with Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold among those linked with the club.
RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba, 21, has also been touted as a potential target for Real, along with teenage Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis.
The 18-year-old is considered to be one of Brazil's top talents at the moment and has drawn interest from several top sides in Europe.
Real manager Carlo Ancelotti refused to divulge the club's transfer plans going forward in light of Carvajal's injury, insisting someone in the side will fill in at right-back should Lucas Vazquez also pick up a knock.
