Although he had an incredible two-year spell as Real's first-team manager between 2016 and 2018, during which he won the LaLiga title and three UEFA Champions League titles, Zidane's fortunes have changed in his second stint in charge of the club.
The Frenchman returned to the Santiago Bernabeu in March this year after Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari failed to stamp their authority on the team, and things have not gone quite as expected.
As a result, many have claimed that Zidane's position at the Spanish giants is not secure, but if he were to be sacked, who would be realistic candidates for his job?

The manager with the highest profile linked with the job is undoubtedly Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician spent three years at Los Blancos, between 2010 and 2013, and enjoyed a great working relationship with president Florentino Perez, who is believed to have tried lure him back to the club before appointing Zidane in 2016.
It also helps that Mourinho is currently unemployed, with many media outlets across Europe, especially in Spain, seemingly convinced he is waiting for the Real job to open up.
Guti is another candidate for the position, which he has been heavily linked with previously, as is club legend Raul Gonzalez. However, Perez might be more tempted to go with someone with more experience if he is to replace Zidane.
90min has tipped Germany boss Joachim Low as a potential replacement, as well as some other managers with proven track records. Mauricio Pochettino has appeared to flirt with an exit from Tottenham Hotspur on a number of occasions, while Massimiliano Allegri is also currently unattached.

Zidane won nine trophies in his first spell at the 13-time UCL winners, and perhaps his status in the game will buy him more time for the team to get back to winning ways. It remains to seen whether or not Perez takes action, though, especially with a number of top managers waiting in the wings.
