After Lionel Messi made a goalscoring return to action for Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night, manager Christophe Galtier was full of praise for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.
Argentina Coach Reveals His Messi Wish
The 35-year-old played his first match for the French giants since the World Cup in the Middle East, which he and his Argentina teammates won following a penalty shootout victory over France in the final.
Messi started in PSG's 2-0 win over Angers in Ligue 1 on Wednesday, scoring his team's second goal after a brilliant build-up move he inspired from deep in midfield to the opponent's box.
Speaking after the encounter, Galtier was thrilled to have the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner back in the side, hailing the forward as the world's best player.
"Today, again, we saw the best player in the world," he told Prime Video after the match.
"Leo wanted to play, came back physically well, and when we have him on the field, we are guaranteed chances.
"He was able to play the whole match, that's very good."
