On Monday, the FIFA FIFPro Men's World XI for 2022 was announced at a ceremony in Paris, with Cristiano Ronaldo overlooked ahead of his former teammates and rivals.

Winner of the FIFA The Best Men's Player award Lionel Messi headlined the star-studded 11-man selection, lining up alongside some high-profile forwards.
Unsurprisingly, the Argentina's club teammate Kylian Mbappe received enough votes to be included in the team, while the likes of Ronaldo and Neymar did not.
According to the FIFPro website, 18 640 votes were cast by professional footballers around the world between 8 August 2021 to 18 December 2022.
Paris Saint-Germain are also represented by Achraf Hakimi in the XI after the right-back's impressive exploits for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
While no Real Madrid players attended the awards ceremony on Monday, they did have three players named in the World XI.
