Argentina captain Lionel Messi has reportedly performed a shock U-turn on his future at Paris Saint-Germain, just weeks on from Cristiano Ronaldo's big-money switch to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
The latest news surrounding the 35-year-old's future is that he is no closer to committing to a new contract in the French capital, despite initial reports suggesting that he is prepared to sign a new deal in the coming weeks.
According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has had a change of heart and is interested in exploring alternative options.
Messi's current contract in Ligue 1 will expire at the end of this season, although there is an option in his agreement for a further 12 months to be triggered should he wish to continue under manager Christopher Galtier.
It was said that the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner was going to sign a new deal on new terms until 2024, but it appears the club's No. 30 is now open to listening to offers from other teams around the world.
Messi has previously been linked with a switch to the MLS and a return to boyhood club Barcelona, while new rumours suggest that he is wanted by a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia following Ronaldo's move to the Middle East.
Questions have recently been raised regarding the Albiceleste captain's relationship with Galtier, as well as his feelings towards Kylian Mbappe amid rumours the Frenchman has a significant influence over the PSG board.
Official: PSG Leave Messi Out Of Squad
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, has claimed that Messi will still meet with the French giants to discuss his future, with the Italian insisting the forward has had a verbal pact with PSG since December that he will stay on for another season.
