MLS teams are only allowed to have three "designated players", who are able to earn above the league's salary cup.
Pizzaro was one of the team's designated players but is now reportedly expected to secure a move to Greek giants AEK Athens ahead of the 2023/2024 season.
The David Beckham-owned side have also signed Sergio Busquets and are reportedly close to securing a deal for former FC Barcelona star Jordi Alba.
Pizzaro did recently express his displeasure about how things work in the MLS following the arrival of Messi.
"I do think it's hard, I have a contract," Pizzaro said, as per the Mirror.
"I didn't know I could be traded anyways. It's a bit strange. I think it's the only league in the world that does this."
