Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to join a new club outside of Europe just weeks after joining Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr.
Ronaldo Gets Special Treatment? Al Nassr Teammate Responds!
At the start of the January window, the 38-year-old penned a world-record contract with Al Nassr following his unceremonious departure from Manchester United in November.
Ronaldo left the English giants after he publicly slammed the club in an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, before signing a two-year deal in the Middle East worth about €200 million (R3.8 billion) a season.
Long before the Portugal captain's free-agent switch to Al Nassr, though, their rivals Al Hilal had been credited with a strong interest in the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, but could not act due to a transfer ban.
Signing Ronaldo has widely been considered to be the Knights of Najd getting one over their Saudi Pro League opponents, who have since reportedly been linked with the former Real Madrid No. 7's long-time rival Lionel Messi.
Marca journalist Jose Felix, however, believes there could still be an opportunity for the Portuguese forward to join Al Hilal.
"I do not rule out the possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the Al Hilal shirt in the future, considering the historical legacy of this club," he told Saudi Arabian television show SBC Maleab.
Following a difficult start to life in the Gulf state, Ronaldo recently marked his fourth appearance for the club with an incredible four-goal haul in a league encounter against Al Wehda.
