The 21-year-old has not played professionally since his arrest in January 2022 on suspicion of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault.
While the charges levelled against the one-time England international were dropped earlier this year by prosecutors, the internal investigation conducted by United has been ongoing as the club prepares to make a call on the striker.
Greenwood has a contract at the Red Devils until 2025, although there has not been any indication from the club that he has a future at Old Trafford following the serious allegations he was facing.
It was reported the 20-time English champions would use their investigation as a chance to speak to various departments within the club, including the women's senior team, before landing on a decision on whether to reintroduce Greenwood into the set-up or cut ties with him.
Rumours have since suggested United could consider loaning the player out for the 2023/24 campaign, with teams in Turkey and Italy believed to have shown an interest in his serices.
A fresh report by Manchester Evening News claims that Ten Hag would prefer a temporary move for Greenwood as opposed to a permanent exit.
