Manchester United may have depth in the attacking department at present, but reports out of Italy suggest that they are eyeing a swoop for a Serie A star.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are set to offer AC Milan's Hakan Calhanoglu a five-year deal.
The 26-year-old, whose current contract will expire at the end of this season, is said to be unhappy with the offer of an extension on the table from the Rossoneri.
The Turkish playmaker is on the radar of a few European clubs, especially after a stunning start to this campaign that has seen him score four goals and provide four assists in eight matches.
Despite a potential pay increase at Old Trafford, it is believed that Calhanoglu would prefer to stay in Italy, and Milan chiefs will continue talks with the player next month.
Milan's latest offer to the playmaker is said to be £54 000 (R1.1 million) per week, and United are reportedly willing to give the player a more lucrative salary due to the fact that they could sign him for free at the end of the campaign.
However, there are question marks regarding the potential move, with the Manchester club already having Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek as options in the traditional No. 10 role, which Calhanoglu plays for Milan.
The Red Devils also have Juan Mata and Paul Pogba who could take up that role if required.
