Man Utd Set To Raid Ajax Yet Again?

Man Utd Set To Raid Ajax Yet Again?

It seems that Manchester United could be in for another one of Ajax Amsterdam's assets, as the Red Devils look to build on what has been an impressive start under Erik ten Hag.

Lukaku's Chelsea Exit Imminent?

Following the acquisitions of Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Ten Hag himself, it seems that the record Premier League champions want to bolster their hierarchy with more personnel from the home of the Dutch champions.

According to Voetbal Primeur, United are looking for a director of football and Edwin Van der Sar is the man that Ten Hag wants to oversee the football operations at Old Trafford. The Red Devils' manager reportedly called the former shot-stopper last week in hopes of luring him back to Manchester.

Van der Sar's stance on switching clubs at this moment is unclear but the same report does suggest that Ajax already have a successor for the former Netherlands international should he decide to follow Ten Hag to the Premier League, with Danny Blind expected to take over his duties as CEO at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

United's search for a director of football has been happening for years now but following the appointment of John Murtough those reports have died down as the club focussed on giving their new coach all the necessary tools to thrive.

It now seems that Ten Hag wants the former United goalkeeper to help him get the club back to the summit of European and English football. The club has tried before to get Van Der Sar to the club, but he declined and opted to stay in Amsterdam.

The 51-year-old CEO recently extended his contract at Ajax until 2025, so luring him will be difficult but given the strides that Ten Hag has already made in such a short period of time, the project might entice him.

Van Der Sar made 266 appearances for United between 2005 and his retirement in 2011. He helped the club win four Premier League titles, the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League as well as three League Cups before calling time in his career.
