With Manchester United having endured a tough time in the recent transfer window, despite a fairly strong finish with four deadline day signings, they have reportedly already identified a top target for January.
Due to the late finish of the past season, clubs will not have to wait long until the next window, and Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already started penning his transfer wish list.
According to The Sun, Jules Kounde of Sevilla is regarded as a top target for the Norwegian, with United set to do battle with Manchester City, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for the defender.
The Red Devils' poor start to the current campaign has showcased concerns in their backline, and it is thought that Solskjaer wants another option to partner Harry Maguire in defence.
Kounde, who made the move to Sevilla in July 2019, has a release clause of £82 million (R1.7 billion) in his contract, despite having arrived from Bordeaux for a fee of £22 million (R472 million).
United will need to offload some more of their outcasts before making a move for the French centre-back, though, with Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo still on their books.
City had their eye on Kounde before completing the capture of Ruben Dias from Benfica, and with Real and Barca unlikely to move for the defender in January, it may be the perfect time for United to strike.
