Manchester United are reportedly hoping to successfully complete the signing of a Barcelona star in the upcoming transfer window.

Erik ten Hag has, so far, survived the Red Devils' worst-ever start to a Premier League season.
The international break has come and gone, and the Dutchman is still the manager of the record English champions.
It seems he is poised to be in charge of the Mancunians for the foreseeable future as the club have been linked with plenty of big names in recent days, the latest being his compatriot and former player, Frenkie de Jong.
The Barcelona midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since Ten Hag took the reins at Old Trafford, but so far, his Ajax Amsterdam starlet has eluded him.
The central midfield position has been an issue for United in recent months, and while they recently recruited Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, it remains an area of the pitch the club seems determined to bolster.
The Blaugrana themselves have had injury issues in the middle of the park, with Gavi, Fermin Lopez and Marc Bernal all out of action, so Hansi Flick will be hoping he can rely on the Dutchman after he recently recovered from his own long-term knock.
De Jong, however, is a major earner in Catalonia, and given that the LALIGA giants are still in a precarious financial position, there is the possibility that Barca would be open to selling.
According to Sport, Flick would not be opposed to this decision if the club forced him to leave.

United are understood to be waiting for an opportunity to sign De Jong, and with his contract set to expire at the end of next season, it could present itself as early as the January 2025 transfer window.
