The Uruguayan is reportedly set to make a deadline-day move to Old Trafford after the 33-year-old saw his contract with Paris Saint-Germain come to an end in July.
Mourinho, who handed his former club their worst home defeat since 2011 when Spurs beat the Red Devils 6-1 on Sunday, spoke about the striker's potential move to the Manchester club.
"I can imagine tonight he (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer) is not going to sleep very, very well, but this is the hard life for us," he said, according to the Daily Mirror.

"But when I look to his team there was an evolution, it's not like he arrives here and the team is improving. They have good players, bought young players. If it's true that Cavani is coming, Cavani is one of the top strikers in the world.
"And Manchester United is Manchester United. It's not this defeat that is going to destroy them, I can imagine they'll react like Manchester United always react."
United have endured a tough time in the transfer market thus far, having been heavily linked with Jadon Sancho throughout. Leading up to deadline day, United had only made one addition in the window, having signed Donny van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam.
