A furious Manchester United star is reportedly begging the club to release him this month.
Sergio Romero has dropped down the pecking order at the Red Devils after Dean Henderson returned from his two-year loan spell at Sheffield United.
The 33-year-old wanted to leave the club during the recent transfer window, but a move to Everton broke down on deadline day. United had demanded a fee from the Toffees, who instead opted to sign Robin Olsen from AS Roma.
His wife reacted furiously, via social media, to her husband being denied the chance leave the club, and the player himself is also extremely frustrated at Old Trafford, especially after he was left out of Mancunians' UEFA Champions League squad, according to The Sun.
It is believed that Romero is even prepared to walk out of his current contract without the £1.5 million (R32 million) payout he would be owed in order to secure a move to a Major League Soccer team in the US this month.
According to ESPN, several United players are upset about how Romero, who has been with the club for five years now, has been treated.
The goalkeeper has featured in just seven Premier League games for United since his arrival in 2015, having been mainly used in FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Europa League matches.
Overall, he has made 61 appearances for the Red Devils to date, keeping an impressive 39 clean sheets in those matches.
