Result: Nancy 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 15 October 2016
Venue: Stade Marcel Picot
Goals from Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura handed Paris Saint-Germain a 2-1 win over Nancy in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening.
The teams started sizing each other out but it became clear who were making inroads in the 13th minute as Lucas Moura opened the scoring.
Moura scored beautifully from a direct free-kick with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner following a foul by Joffrey Cuffaut
Edinson Cavani made it 2-0 in the 18th minute.
The forceful striker capitalised from poor marking after a clever freekick won by Moura. He found space to send a right footed finish to the centre of goal from the box.
Nancy were still up for it and thereafter they created real chances with Anthony Koura and Madou Diagne at the end of a couple of chances but their finishing was not up to standard.
The first half ended with PSG leading comfortably 2-0.
In the 55th minute Alou Diarra got himself in the score-sheet after much probing to make it 2-1.
Diarra scored with a glancing header from the centre of the box to the top left corner following a cross by Benoit Pedretti from a set-piece situation.
Cavani was threatening and found a lot of opportunities but he couldn't find the target for his second of the match.
Nancy were in and out of the game and when they created chances they couldn't convert to get something out of the game.
In end PSG's quality was too much for Nancy.
