The 26-year-old has already scored as many goals in this campaign as he did for Liverpool and AC Milan over the last two seasons combined – seven in nine games.
However, his fine form was not enough to convince Italy coach Giampiero Ventura to select him for the national side.
"I have always been an Italy fan. If Ventura does call me, I know that I'll have to play at my best," Balotelli commented on the coaches' decision, as quoted by Mediaset.
Recent reports have already linked him with a return to Serie A, with Napoli reportedly interested in his services after their star striker Arkadiusz Milik suffered a long-term injury.
"I love Naples and Neapolitans, my daughter lives there, but for the moment returning to Italy is not in my plans. I am focused only on Nice and France," Balotelli added.
"If we win the league, I'll get a helicopter and fly over Nice!"

Balotelli's goals have helped Nice to a surprise Ligue1 lead, three points ahead of French giants Monaco and Paris-Saint Germain.
