French Ligue 1
Result: Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 Saint-Ettiene
Date: 09 September 2016
Venue: Parc des Princes
Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain were booed by their own supporters, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Saint-Ettiene at the Parc des Princes.
The hosts were without the services of Serge Aurier, Thiago Silva, Javier Pastore and Maxwell. While, Edinson Cavani dropped to the bench with Angel Di Maria.
PSG struggled for most of the half, despite seeing more of the ball, as they struggled to carve out clear-cut openings and were forced to shoot from distance.
Saint-Ettiene, meanwhile, were quite happy to sit back and soak up the pressure, although they had the first real opening of the game after 29 minutes when Saviet forced Kelvin Trapp into a fine save.
The score remained goalless as the sides entered the halftime break.
With the hosts struggling, Unai Emery introduced Di Maria for the in-effective Jese Rodriguez after 58 minutes.
PSG were then awarded a penalty in the 67th minute when Blaise Matuidi was brought down in the box. Lucas Moura stepped up and made no mistake from 12-yards out, 1-0.
The Ligue 1 champions pushed for more goals as the second half drew to a close, but Stéphane Ruffier produced a couple saves to deny Di Maria and Lucas.
However, the visitors leveled matters in the final minute of stoppage time when Robert Beric bundled home from close range, after some good work by Kevin Malcuit.
