Last season, the 26-year-old played a pivotal role in helping the Blaugrana bring the LALIGA title back to the Camp Nou after a four-year wait.
It was a culmination of the support the winger had received from his manager Xavi Hernandez ever since he was appointed as Barca's manager, with the Spaniard backing the pacey attacker to be one of the best wingers in world football.
Despite his new lease on life in Catalonia, Dembele decided to ditch the Spanish top flight and make a dramatic return to Ligue 1 and sign for its champions PSG after they triggered the forward's €50 million (R1 billion) release clause in a transfer that proved unpopular among those at the home of the five-time European champions.
While on international duty with Les Bleus recently, he was asked why he decided to make the switch.
"Why did I sign for PSG? I spoke with the coach and the president [Nassir] Al-Khelaifi," the Vernon native said, as per Sport.
"They told me about the project and I was also excited to play again in France.
"Everything is fine at PSG, we have a great coach and the speech I liked the president."
