Xavi Hernandez Explains Why He Rejected Barcelona Twice

Xavi Hernandez has explained why he turned down the FC Barcelona job twice in the last few years.

Many have tipped the former midfield general to take up the hot seat at the Camp Nou after impressing with Qatar outfit Al Sadd in the last couple years.

The 41-year-old insists it is not the right time and he is in no rush to return to the club where he enjoyed great success as a player.

"Fortunately or unfortunately I have said no to Barcelona twice, due to different circumstances, family, professional, contractual...," Xavi told La Vanguardia:

"And of course it was very difficult because I am a Barcelona fan, but it was not the [right] time."

"Whatever comes will come, it will be evaluated and we will decide.

"[Offers] arrived years ago, but it was not the time. Barcelona came and it was not the time. There is no hurry.

"Xabi Alonso said the other day that he wants to coach in his own way and I can relate to that."
