Real Madrid have been linked with a surprise loan move for a Manchester United star as Carlo Ancelotti looks to bolster his squad.
Donny van de Beek joined the Red Devils from Ajax Amsterdam last season, but failed to cement a regular starting berth under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, making just 19 appearances in the Premier League.
The Daily Star has now reported that Ancelotti has highlighted the Netherlands international as a possible loan target for the Spanish giants for the upcoming campaign.
The Italian tactician, who returned to Los Blancos' dugout last month, is believed to be looking at midfield options, but with the club's financial situation, the LaLiga side will have to look at loans and free transfers.
It is further claimed that the loan agreement for the Dutchman is not expected to include an option to make the move permanent, with Ancelotti seemingly aiming to keep his options open for the long term.
Real have made only one new signing in this transfer window, with David Alaba arriving from Bayern Munich as a free agent, while a number of players are set to return from loan spells, including Gareth Bale, Martin Odegaard and Luka Jovic.
