Iker Casillas' agent, Santos Marquez, has come out and confirmed that his client was forced out of Real Madrid, and that he didn't want to leave, despite Florentino Perez stating otherwise.
Furious Xavi Blasts Real Over Casillas Farewell
Perez told the Real Madrid supporters that the club did not pressurise the 34-year-old to leave the club, and insisted that the player asked for a transfer himself.
Marquez has now come out to set the record straight and assured everyone that Casillas didn't leave the club on his own free will - like Perez has claimed.
"Casillas never decided to jump ship and leave Real; he was pushed. Six years ago, when the likes of Guti and Raúl were there, he was already condemned. He is the captain, he was condemned," he said on radio MARCA's 'Intermedio'.
"In no moment did I hear Rafa Benítez say I want or I don't want Casillas."
The agent also accused the club of not wanting the other players to have a chance to bid farewell to his client, before they left for their pre-season tour.
"It was a case of waiting until the team left so that they couldn't say goodbye to Iker, of that I am quite sure," he added.
Tearful Casillas' Farewell Message To Real
Los Blancos have been highly criticised with the all dealings around Casillas' exit, and the fans have slowly started turning their back on Perez.
