It has been confirmed that Chelsea and France midfielder N'Golo Kante will not be able to help his nation retain their title as world champions as he will miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Mbappe 'Still Wants To Leave PSG'
In what has already been a difficult start to the 2022/23 season for the 31-year-old, the defensive midfielder has now suffered a major setback, having been ruled out of action for the next four months.
The Blues star has been struggling with a hamstring injury for much of the campaign, and while it looked as though he was recovering well, his road to full fitness was derailed massively recently.
The west London club has since confirmed that Kante has undergone successful surgery on his hamstring and will only return to action in early 2023.
"The midfielder visited a specialist with the club's medical department to explore the options for his rehabilitation approach and it was mutually agreed for N'Golo to have surgery to repair the damage," an official statement from the club read.
"Following a successful operation, N'Golo is now expected to be sidelined for four months."
Kante has been an integral figure for not only Chelsea but also his national side, having played a big part in helping Les Bleus lift their second World Cup title in 2018.
However, since achieving glory in Russia, the former Leicester City man has seen much of his career curtailed by persistent injuries.

After the 2018/19 season, Kante has played no more than 30 Premier League matches in a single campaign, and as he enters the final 12 months of his deal at Stamford Bridge, it remains to be seen if the Blues are willing to offer him a new contract and keep one of the club's highest earners on their books.
