On Thursday, it was reported that Catalan club president Joan Laporta is angry with recent comments made by the 44-year-old.
Speaking in a recent press conference, the Spaniard said the Blaugrana's financial situation means it is difficult for them to compete, this after he was persuaded to stay on in his role beyond this term.
RAC1 has since claimed that Laporta and his colleagues are incensed by Xavi's public statements and have considered terminating his contract.
The former Barcelona captain and midfielder, after his side's 2-0 win over Almeria in LALIGA on Thursday night, faced questions over his future following the rumours of unrest behind the scenes.
"My whole staff are very excited for next season. We want to play the Suerpcup, we want to compete for titles next season. We want to win titles again," he said, according to Barca Universal.
"I understand the noise. The environment around the club is always like that. But no, I'm calm and ready to start next season.
"I said that we would compete for titles next season, but we have to understand that this situation is not easy.
"No one has told me that I don't deserve to continue. We're very excited for next season. I have a desire to compete and fight."
