Xavi Hernandez has once again been speaking about Lionel Messi's potential return to Barcelona, this time urging the public to stop discussing the rumours and to instead let the Argentine enjoy his time at Paris Saint-Germain.
Pep Explains What Separates Haaland Messi
In recent months, speculation suggesting the 35-year-old could be headed back to the Blaugrana have intensified amid claims he will not extend his contract in Paris.
This comes after president Joan Laporta insisted that Messi's story at the Catalan club was not over, with economic vice-president Eduard Romeu recently admitting a deal would be possible as the Argentina captain would return as a free agent.
Xavi, who has taken the team to the top of the LaLiga table for the first time since his appointment, has reiterated his stance that entertaining these rumours for now is tedious, saying that, while he feels Barcelona is Messi's home, it is best to let the Argentine "enjoy his time" in France.
"With Leo, let's see, but it's not the moment to talk about it right now," he said, according to ESPN.
"You know the love I have for him. He is a friend and I will always wish him the best.
"Barca is his home, but we're not doing him any favours speaking about [his future], either.
"Let's leave him in peace to enjoy his time in Paris and wish him all the best."
Messi has been in terrific form for the French giants so far this season, having scored seven goals and assisted a further eight strikes in 12 matches in all competitions.
The forward was also in great touch for Argentina in the recent international break, during which he struck four times in two appearances.
