Spanish giants Barcelona have announced the €55 million (R1.1 billion) signing of one the top performers of the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

The Catalan giants have now confirmed the arrival of Spain international Dani Olmo from German side RB Leipzig.

The attacking midfielder returns to his boyhood club, whose famous La Masia academy he spent seven years at between 2007 and 2014 prior to his move to Dinamo Zagreb as a teenager.
Olmo, 26, has joined Barcelona in a deal reportedly worth €62 million (R1.2 billion) including add-ons, with €55 million being the transfer fee and the extra €7 million (R140 million) being bonuses.
The player enjoyed a stellar EURO 2024 campaign in Germany, sharing the competition's top goalscorer award and being named in the Team of the Tournament.

Olmo has committed to a six-year deal at the Blaugrana.
