Luis Suarez's future at FC Barcelona has been thrown into doubt after president Josep Maria Bartomeu snubbed the Uruguay star when revealing the list of players he expects to stay at the club beyond this transfer window.
Major changes have got underway following Barca's humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League last week, and a player clearout is expected.
Manager Quique Setien was sacked and replaced by Ronald Koeman, while sporting director Eric Abidal also saw his contract with the club terminated.
There has been massive speculation surrounding Lionel Messi, although Bartomeu stated publicly that the Argentine star will stay, along with a number of the team's younger stars. However, his failure to address Suarez's future caught the eye.
The former Liverpool striker has come under some criticism from fans recently, and with the changing of the guard, the 33-year-old could be on his way out of the Camp Nou.
However, the Daily Mail, who cited Uruguayan publication Ovacion, has reported that his entourage has since reacted to the rumours, stating that the forward is determined to stay at the club, at least for one more year.
Suarez scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists for the Blaugrana last season, but a persisting knee injury is reportedly a concern. However, Koeman may be tasked with the final decision as to whether the the forward stays or goes.
Some media outlets are already claiming that the Dutchman, who left his post with the Netherlands national team, could be tempted to offer Suarez to Ajax Amsterdam in a bid to bring Donny van de Beek to the Camp Nou.
