Despite reports that Christian Eriksen will undergo a medical at Inter Milan in the coming days, the Tottenham Hotspur star's move to Italy could be in doubt after FC Barcelona seemingly emerged as late contenders for his signature.
Eriksen, whose contract with Spurs expires at the end of the season, has been linked with a move away from the club since the beginnning of January, with the likes of Inter, Manchester United and Real Madrid all said to be interested in his services.
The Italian outfit looked set to win the battle for the Denmark international, with the Daily Mail suggesting that Jose Mourinho's side had accepted an improved offer and that the midfielder would undergo a medical early next week.
Those plans could be scuppered, however, after subsequent reports emerged stating that LaLiga giants Barcelona were hoping to hijack the deal for the 27-year-old, who is said to have already agreed personal terms with the Nerazzurri.
That is according to the Daily Star, who claimed that new Barca boss Quique Setien is looking to "refresh" his squad and sees the former Ajax Amsterdam star as a player who would fit into his long-term plans.
