After making controversial comments about a rival club earlier in the week, one FC Barcelona starlet was forced to close his Twitter account after receiving abuse from angry supporters.
Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena, who recently joined Real Betis on loan for the remainder of the season, was forced away from Twitter after receiving threats and abuse from Sevilla supporters.
According to AS, the development follows after Alena was asked on late-night radio show El Larguero if he had become a "Sevilla hater" since joining Betis.
"Well, the truth is that I have, of course," the 22-year-old responded jokingly.
"When one arrives at Betis and you witness how intense the city rivalry is... it's now clear that I'm totally dedicated to the Real Betis cause."
The radio clip was relayed by the station's community manager, reportedly out of context, which prompted the online backlash from Sevilla supporters.
