FC Barcelona head coach Quique Setien has come under fire since replacing Ernesto Valverde in January, and with rumours of his impending departure, the club's hierarchy have now given an update on his future.
With the 61-year-old's tenure at the Camp Nou being plagued by dressing room instability and a reported fallout with 2018 FIFA World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann, Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu has now come out in full support of the former Real Betis boss.
"(Quique) Setien will continue, obviously," Bartomeu said, as per 90min.
"I do not regret Valverde's change. The team needed a boost. Setien knows our DNA, the model and has brought new airs and new ideas.
"The coaches are obviously subject to the results, but I am happy with the evolution of the team.
"If the league, which is difficult, we did not win, then the (UEFA) Champions League comes in August. You have to try to win first one and then the other."
While Bartomeu has given the Santander-born man his public backing, club legend Xavi Hernandez has repeatedly admitted his desire to manage the Catalan giants one day.
Although the 40-year-old recently signed a one-year contract extension with Qatari football club Al Sadd, there have been reports that an agreement between the former midfielder and the club has already been made.
