FC Barcelona legend Histro Stoichkov has described current Blaugrana boss Quique Setien and his outspoken assistant Eder Sarabia as "mediocre" coaches.
Stoichkov, who coached Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2009/10 season, is seemingly confused about how the Barca board were able to sack Ernesto Valverde, who had won a league title with the club last season, and yet stick with a coaching staff that have largely disappointed in the team's title defence.
"You sack (Ernesto) Valverde when he's first in LaLiga and don't sack him when he loses 3-0 in Rome or 4-0 in Liverpool, or against Valencia in the Copa (del Rey final)," Stoichkov said on a television programme, as per Marca.
"You kick out Valverde to bring in a mediocre coach (Quique Setien), like his assistant (Eder Sarabia)."
The 1994 Ballon d'Or winner also shared his belief that, despite the LaLiga giants' massive financial outlay to bring in top talent over the past few seasons, the money spent has not reaped considerable rewards.
"You know what's more worrying? The one billion (euros) spent and nothing earned," the 54-year-old added.
"Look, a billion... that's not two cents."
