Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been accused of lying about the club signing Spain star Nico Williams.
The Catalan giants have reportedly been targeting the Athletic Bilbao attacker in the last couple months.
There have been reports that Williams could end up signing a new deal with the Basque club, but it seems the club have put their pursuit on hold to look at other targets.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that Barcelona have upped their efforts to sign Williams' Spain teammate Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.
Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font says the club will not be able to sign Williams.
"I wish we could sign Nico Williams because that's what we need. The president has said that it is possible, but that is not true. Today it cannot be done," Font told the Athletic.
"We hope that it will be possible tomorrow. But today, it is not.
"The members want to dream and believe what they tell us. The problem is that they have been telling us for three summers that everything is fine, that we will sign players and that everything is resolved.
"With each passing year, credibility falls. And this summer, if promises are not kept, credibility will fall even more."
