Fresh from ending the league season in Japan, FC Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has discussed the possibility of retirement and revealed his desire to return to his boyhood club.
Iniesta, who currently plies his trade with J1 League side Vissel Kobe, spent 16 seasons with the Catalan giants where he won no fewer than 32 major honours.
The former Spain international has now revealed that he plans to take up coaching when he retires from the game and that he would love to return to Barca at some point in the future.
"The topic of coaching is something that I fancy (doing)," Iniesta said at an event in Barcelona, as reported by Marca.
"I would love to return to Barcelona at one point in my life, but that's a hypothetical situation. Now I still feel like a footballer."
The 35-year-old added that he was not ready to retire just yet, however, and that he planned to continue his stint in Japan in 2020.
"I'm feeling really happy at the moment, with hunger and excitement," the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner said.
"I love where I am, I've enjoyed this year a lot. This year stays with me and the next one and I hope to fulfil it. Then we'll see.
"I don't have long-term plans because this can change in a matter of days.
Iniesta made 674 appearances for Barca during his time at the club and is the most decorated footballer in Spanish football history.
