Van Gaal: Players Must Deal With Pressure

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal insists dealing with pressure from fans is part of a player's job. Late Penalty Sends United Through Van Gaal admitted his side's performance was not good enough as they scraped past League One side Sheffield United 1-0 in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday. United struggled to break down the visitors and required a stoppage-time penalty from Wayne Rooney to claim a win. A section of United supporters booed the side at half-time and again after the game, but Van Gaal believes the players must deal with it. "Okay it's not good today. We did not move the ball quickly today," he said. "But we have won and that is the most important thing in the FA Cup - we have to be in the next round and we are there. "I think a player of Manchester United has to cope with the pressure of the fans of Manchester United and also with the media pressure. "That is also what I expect of the manager of Manchester United. It can have an influence, but I think a player of Manchester United has to deal with that otherwise you are not a good Manchester United player."
