Aston Villa secured a spot in the FA Cup final after defeating Liverpool 2-1 in their semi-final tie at Wembley Stadium.
Villa had the first meaningful effort at goal in the 12th minute when Charles N'Zogbia forced Simon Mignolet into a save from 20-yards out.
Brendan Rodgers' side broke the deadlock with their first opening after the half an hour mark, as Coutinho collected a pass from Raheem Sterling and slotted over Shay Given.
That lead did not last long, as Fabian Delph did well beat his marker, before pulling the ball back for Christian Benteke, who side-footed home from six-yards out.
Liverpool could have restored their lead just before the halftime break but Lovren steered his header wide of the mark, after getting on the end of Steven Gerrard's corner.
Villa went ahead 10 minutes after the halftime break, as Jack Grelish picked out Delph, who turned well, before firing past Mignolet from six-yards out.
Villa continued to search for a third goal and could have been further ahead in the 61st minute but Kieran Richardson fired horribly wide from close range.
Liverpool nearly leveled matters in the 86th minute but Richardson was on hand to clear Gerrard's header off the line.
Substitute Mario Balotelli was presented with an opportunity in stoppage time but the Italian headed over from close range.
Tim Sherwood's side managed to hold on and claim the win, which will now see them face defending champions, Arsenal in the final.
