FA Cup Report: Manchester United 1-1 West Ham 13 March 2016

FA Cup Result: Man United 1-1 West Ham Date: 13 March 2016 Venue: Old Trafford Manchester United netted a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw to secure an FA Cup quarter-final replay against West Ham United on Sunday. The Hammers had a great chance in the early stages as Andy Carroll dropped deep to collect a pass and send a ball over the top for Emenike to run onto, but his effort goes wide after he beats Chris Smalling. The visitors were on the attack again shortly thereafter as Cresswell got forward to cross from the left, but Carroll's headed effort couldn't find the target. The Red Devils were lucky not to concede again when Dimitri Payet fed Cresswell's overlapping run and the left-back crossed for Emenike to head at goal only to put it straight at David De Gea. At the other end of the pitch the hosts came close to breaking the deadlock when Anthony Martial crossed deep into the area where Herrera got on the end of it with a volley that was deflected just wide. There was a big penalty shout in the 66th minute as Payet seemed to be caught in the area by Rojo, but the referee waved it away and United escaped. The breakthrough came two minutes later as West Ham deservedly took the lead. Payet stepped up to take a free kick and bent it beautifully into the top corner of De Gea's goal. In the 83rd minute Louis van Gaal's side found the equaliser. Herrera did great work on the right and crossed towards the far post where Martial was in position to stab home. Elsewhere, Tottenham collected three points in the Premier League as they beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Villa Park.
