FA Cup Result: Chelsea 2-0 Scunthorpe Date: 10 January 2016 Venue: Stamford Bridge Chelsea claimed a spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Scunthorpe on Sunday afternoon. The Blues found their opening goal in the 13th minute. Branislav Ivanovic got the ball on the right and sent a cross towards Diego Costa who thumped a brilliant volley past the goalkeeper. Chelsea came close to doubling their lead two minutes later when Cesc Fabregas's venomous attempt on goal was saved by the fingertips of Luke Daniels. The pressure on the visitors continued as Oscar dummied the ball towards Costa before receiving a return pass from the striker and curling a shot just past the far corner of the goal from the edge of the area. Scunthorpe had a big penalty shout in the 54th minute when Van Veen made a strong run into the box only to be clipped by Ramires. However, the referee waved play on. Guus Hiddink's side were two goals clear in the 68th minute. Substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek made a great run towards the near post where he smashed home a first-time finish to secure the home side's progress into the next round. The travelers came close to getting back into the tie as Van Veen's free kick from 25 yards went narrowly wide of the Chelsea post in the 74th minute.
