Arsenal moved into the next round of the English FA Cup after a 3-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.
Theo Walcott opened the scoring for Arsenal after only two minutes after a clinical finish from the edge of the box after being put into space by Calum Chambers, 1-0.
Mesut Ozil doubled their lead in the 24th minute when he was slipped through on goal by Tomas Rosicky and made no mistake by driving the ball past the keeper from 16-yards out, 2-0.
Brighton and Hove Albion pulled a goal back five minutes into the second half courtesy of a strike from Chris O'Grady, 3-1.
Their joy was short lived as when Arsenal restored their two goal advantage in the 59th minute when Rosicky turned home an Oliver Giroud pass from the edge of the box, 3-1.
The home side set up a frantic final 15 minutes when Sam Baldock scored their second after being put through on goal and managing to beat the keeper in a one-on-one, 3-2.
Arsenal defended stoutly in the final minutes of the game to hang onto their slender lead and the win.
Elsewhere, a goal nine minutes from time by Diafra Sakho saw West Ham United beat Bristol City 1-0 at the Ashton Gate Stadium to progress to the next round of the FA Cup.
Aston Villa was another premiership side that progressed in the English cup competition after beating AFC Bournemouth 2-1 at Villa Park.
Carles Gil opened the scoring for Villa in the 51st minute before Andreas Weimann doubled their lead twenty minutes later.
Callum Wilson scored a consolation goal for Bournemouth in the 93rd minute, but it was too little too late.
