Result: Aston Villa 0-4 Manchester City
Date: 30 January 2016
Venue: Villa Park
A hat-trick from Kelechi Iheanacho helped Manchester City comfortably win their FA Cup clash 4-0 when they visited Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
It was not long into the game before Kelechi Iheanacho registered his name on the scoresheet as he handed City a 1-0 advantage only three minutes into the half. The Citizens came out firing and Jesus Navas almost doubled their lead three minutes later.
Leandro Bacuna came close to pulling one back around the tenth minute but his effort was just a bit too high.
Manuel Pellegrini's men continued to dominate the early exchanges and after a couple of half-chances were rewarded in the 23rd minute, courtesy of a Iheanacho penalty after Raheem Sterling was fouled in the area, 2-0.
The visitors were looking a class above their opponents, and should have been more goals to the good, but Villa were doing well in holding on. The hosts began to settle with the half-time break on the horizon and Ciaran Clark almost pulled one back for Villa in the 42nd minute with a header from a tight angle.
The teams headed into the break with Manchester City leading 2-0.
Pellegrini's charges meant business , as they continued where they had left off in the second stanza, with Sterling testing Brad Guzan ten minutes into the half.
The men from Manchester continued to look threatening on attack and Fernandinho should have done better with his 63rd minute strike. Ten minutes later Iheacrocked up to complete his hat-trick with a well taken strike to make it 3-0.
Less than four minutes later, Sterling made it 4-0 with a shot from close range, almost sealing the victory for City as they looked totally unstoppable at this stage.
The goal seemed to demotivate the men from Villa Park as the tempo decreased and City played out the match for the 4-0 victory.
