English FA Cup
Result: Arsenal 1-2 Watford
Date: 13 March 2016
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Arsenal were stunned by Watford 2-1 in a tightly contested FA Cup encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners had the better start, typically controlling possession in the early exchanges. The hosts dominated play and even had a goal disallowed for off-side in the 10th minute after Olivier Giroud had slotted it neatly past the Watford goalkeeper.
Arsenal continued to look great on the ball, creating chances, Elneny having a super chance in the 30th minute and another lovely opportunity ten minutes later, but the attacker was unable to convert any of his chances and had to settle for a goalless score at the break.
Before Arsenal could settle after the restart, Ighalo rocked up to break the deadlock with a 50th minute effort that handed Watford the slender 1-0 advantage. The Gunners began to regain control of the encounter as the match progressed, but just when they started to get going, Adlène Guédioura doubled the visitors' lead to make it 2-0.
It took some time for The Gunners to regain that momentum, but as the match drew to a close the men in red began to dominate play once more and this time were rewarded with a 66th minute goal from Danny Welbeck. That came a bit too late though as Watford held on for the victory.
