Emirates FA Cup
Result: Hull City 0-4 Arsenal
Date: 08 March 2016
Venue: The KC Stadium
Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott scored a brace each to help Arsenal claim a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Hull City in their Emirates FA Cup tie at the KC Stadium.
The match started on a rather slow tempo, but it began to pick up as both sides settled in round about halfway through the first half. David Meler almost grabbed the opener in the 29th minute when he forced Ospina into a lovely save in the bottom corner.
The hosts continued to look good, but it was Arsenal who would grab the lead in the 40th minute, courtesy of a clinical finish from Olivier Giroud, 1-0. The goal seemed to shift momentum Arsenal's way, but despite the late dominance 1-0 is how the teams headed into the half-time break.
Hull City had a bright start to the second half as well, and Mohamed Diame came close in the 52nd minute, but his header went just wide of the target. The Gunners then regained control of the match as the second stanza progressed, and Giroud completed his brace in the 70th minute with a fine strike into the bottom corner, 2-0.
Six minutes later, Theo Walcott joined the party with a goal of his own after a superb period of play from the visiting team, 3-0. Arsene Wenger's charges were looking a class above their opponents in the closing stages, and Walcott would also complete his brace in the 87th minute to seal the 4-0 victory as Arsenal strolled into the next round of the FA Cup.
