Kevin Strootman opened the scoring for the Italian side in the 15th minute before Federico Fazio doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time. Babacar completed his brace on the stroke of half-time, and Mauro Zarate (63', 78') netted a double of his own. Dino Ndlovu produced a consolation strike for the visitors. Be'er Sheva 0-0 Southampton Neither side could find the breakthrough as they shared the spoils in a goalless draw. Sparta Praha 3-1 Inter Milan Vaclav Kadlec (7') gave the home side the lead before doubling it in the 25th minute. Rodrigo Palacio (71') reduced the deficit, but Mario Holek secured the result for Sparta Prague in the 76th minute. Steaua Bucuresti 1-1 Villarreal The Spanish side got their noses in front in the ninth minute via Rafael Borre, but Sulley Muniru (20') equalised for the home team. Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Rapid Wien The hosts edged ahead through Benat in the 59th minute and held on to the fragile lead to claim victory.
