Europa League Result: Liverpool 1-0 (1-0 agg) Augsburg Date: 25 February 2016 Venue: Anfield Liverpool moved into the Europa League last 16 with a 1-0 victory over Augsburg in the second leg of their tie on Thursday. The Reds had the momentum early in the clash as they won a penalty in the fourth minute. Kohr gave away the foul in the box as he handled the ball following a corner kick. James Milner stepped up and made no mistake with the spot kick. Simon Mignolet had a quiet start to the game and was called upon to make his first save in the 27th minute when a long drive from Stafylidis honed in on the bottom corner of the goal. The goalkeeper did well to push it away. Lucas almost cost the hosts in the 35th minute when a poor back pass from him let Caiuby in down the left. The Brazilian rounded Mignolet but the angle was difficult and he couldn't convert the chance. Liverpool were inches from doubling the lead shortly before the break. Can sent the ball down the line for Coutinho who cut it back for Daniel Sturridge, but his attempt only rattled the woodwork. The hosts came close again when Coutinho put Sturridge in a position to strike, but the Englishman's effort curled just wide of the target to the dismay of the home support. Jurgen Klopp's side almost conceded a late equaliser when Moravek slid in a terrific pass for Caiuby, who beat Lucas before hitting a low cross into the six-yard box, but it was cleared after an initial Augsburg touch.
