On the weekend, rumours claimed the experienced Belgium international had struck an agreement with Al Ittihad ahead of the 2024/25 season.
This followed recent comments from De Bruyne on a potential future switch to the Saudi Pro League, during which he admitted it was enticing given the financial benefits high-profile footballers are receiving in the country.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, there is no truth to the reports that City's playmaker is on his way to the Middle East.
Al Ittihad, who currently have Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante on their books, are reportedly only focused on signing Aston Villa winger Moussa Diaby.
The club is also said to be interested in City goalkeeper Ederson, who is rumoured to be looking to swap the Premier League for the SPL in this transfer window.
As for De Bruyne's situation, the 33-year-old only has one year remaining on his deal in England. The midfielder's contract will, as things stand, expire in 2025 after his 10th season with the Citizens.
