Erling Haaland shattered a Premier League record when he found the back of the net three times against Manchester United this past weekend.
Saliba Earns High Praise From Ex-Arsenal Icon
Haaland continued his otherworldly goalscoring form in Manchester City's 6-3 victory over bitter rivals United on Sunday afternoon as he scored yet another hat-trick in the English top flight, taking his tally for the season to 17 goals in 11 matches in all competitions.
The encounter against the Red Devils was the third time Haaland had scored a hat-trick in the 2022/23 Premier League season, a statistic that makes the Scandinavian marksman , who has played only eight EPL matches to date, the quickest forward to accomplish that feat by some distance.
The previous holder of that record was Michael Owen, with the former Liverpool forward getting to his third hat-trick 48 games into his Premier League career.
The 2001 Ballon d'Or winner is followed by the United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, who took 59 games to get to his third match ball, and ex-Liverpool Striker Fernando Torres, who scored his third EPL hat-trick in his 64th match.
Ten Hag Reveals Why He Didn't Bring Ronaldo On Vs Man City
According to the Daily Mirror, Haaland is averaging a league goal every 47.2 minutes, and has already outscored all but six teams in the division with his 14 strikes so far.
On top of his three strikes against Erik ten Hag's men, the 22-year-old was also on hand to assist two goals for Phil Foden, who also got to take a match ball home following a hat-trick of his own.
