Guardiola Speaks After Bust-Up With Furious De Bruyne

Guardiola Speaks After Bust-Up With Furious De Bruyne

Pep Guardiola has commented on his touchline bust-up with Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne following their 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The Belgian started for the Citizens on the weekend, providing the assist for John Stones' goal in the 23rd minute, but was replaced by Mateo Kovacic with 20 minutes still to be played and the score at 1-1.

Clearly disappointed with Guardiola's decision at the time, De Bruyne was seen remonstrating with his manager and City's coaching staff following the substitution.

Speaking after the game, the Spaniard suggested he took the 32-year-old as his side needed to retain the ball better, but insisted there is no "problem" between him and his star midfielder.

"That's good. Have a chance next game to prove it," he said, according to The Sun

"We need a player who keeps the ball. It's not about pressing. Kovacic is really good at that.
