Following his big-money move from Benfica to Liverpool, Darwin Nunez has struggled to acclimatise to English football, and has attributed one of the reasons for this to not understanding Jurgen Klopp's instructions.
Mane Reflects On His And Bayern's Return To Form
During the off-season, the Reds made Nunez the second-most expensive signing in the club's history when they paid the Eagles €75 million (R1.3 billion) for the Uruguayan.
While life in England started relatively well for the striker, who scored against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield as well as on the opening day of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign against Fulham, things have gone from bad to worse for the Artigas native.
Since finding the back of the net at Craven Cottage, the 23-year-old has endured a wretched spell of form that included being sent off in his first league appearance at Anfield.
The former Almeria forward has now admitted that while Klopp has provided him with a lot of motivation and confidence amid his poor run of form, he still struggles to understand what the German tactician says.
"The truth is, I honestly don't understand anything when he talks in lectures," Nunez confessed to TNT Sports.
"Of course, I ask my teammates to see what he said, but I think he is very clear about his style of play.
"He asks us to do the simple things, not to be afraid to play games, to have confidence.
"Sometimes I feel a little indecisive, I don't feel completely confident.
"But as time goes on, it gets better. The coach always gives me confidence.
"The goals will come. It's like ketchup, when it comes out a little, it all comes out."
The Reds' 2-0 victory over Rangers on Tuesday night was the first time Nunez started for Klopp since the Merseyside derby a month ago, and the Uruguayan reportedly gave a good account of himself against the Scottish opposition, albeit without finding the back of the net.
